The last pair of shoes

About 8 years ago I visited Mexico with Spectrum ministries. We took several bags of used clothing and shoes to a dump in Tijuana. I thought, surely, the bags stuffed in the vans were enough for all the children we were going to help. My job was to find a pair of gently used shoes that would fit each child who came to the van. It was an easy job at first; until we got low on shoes and had to give kids a size too big. The last little girl who came to the van was about five years old and the last pair of shoes we had was a size 4. We put them on her, but it was obvious they would not fit. We sent her away with her old tattered shoes.

At that moment I thought, if I could just run up to Target and buy a pair of shoes and bring them back I would. And now I’m ready to return, and I invite you to help. I know there are still children in Mexico waiting for a new pair of shoes. Could you please help our church give 100 shoes to children in need in the barrio of Miramar, Tijuana?

There are six ways you can help:

1. I LOVE TO SHOP: Buy a new pair of shoes and bring them to the church by December 6.
2. I LOVE SHOPPING ONLINE: Buy a pair of shoes and have them shipped to the church by Dec 6
   
3. I LOVE TO GIVE: Donate $15 for a new pair of shoes.
   Send check or cash to the church (FVUMC), with “shoes” in the memo or Donate online(click on paypal above)
4. I LOVE TO FIND A BARGAIN: Look for great deals on shoes and stretch the donated money and buy lots of shoes.
5. I LOVE LITTLE TOES: Go to Mexico with us on Dec 12, and give the shoes to the children (fill out feedback form on this page)
6. I LOVE TO PRAY: Pray that we would get 100 shoes to share with the children in Mexico and be able to share Gods love.
